The Suttle Lake Area is located off Hwy 20 about 10 miles southeast of the Santiam Summit of the Cascades. This medium size lake is great for paddle boarding, sking, windsurfing, or just the quiet boater .There are three campgrounds on the lake giving a total of about 100 campsites ours favorite being Link Creek Cite # 14. About half of these campsites can be reserved through the national reservation system. The campgrounds have plenty of room for RV ‘s and tents. Yurts (3) are available year round and located at Link Creek. There are four ramps to put in your boats and easy access in several places for your kayak, sailboard, or other small boat. The water is a little cold for swimming until late in August, but plenty of people do get in the water as you can see from our photos from this years camping adventure.
I especially love the Suttle Lake Loop Trail, it is a 3.6 mile moderately trafficked loop around the whole lake. Accessible from May until November its a beautiful walk, mountain bike and dog friendly trail, but dogs must be kept on leash.
Facilities:
Each site has a gravel parking spur, picnic table and campfire ring.Ice and firewood are available from the camp host for a moderate fee, all boat launches are free.Drinking water and vault toilets are provided.
Nearby Attractions:
The town of Sisters is about 15 miles away, offering shopping and restaurants.
